Organizer Northern California (Posted 8/25/26) SEIU Local 1021 was founded in 2007 when ten local unions cametogether in Northern California to form one larger, more powerfulunion. Together our members are building a true 21st centuryunion fighting to empower and improve the lives of our members.We are 54,000 strong - organizing and representing public serviceworkers in cities, counties, courts, schools, privatenon-profits, special districts, public health care, and nursing.We are looking for energetic, hard-working staff who arecommitted to real change, who believe in the value of work andthe value of public services and who want to be part of the teamthat wins for workers, their families, and their communities. EXPERIENCE: One (1) year experience in unionorganizing. External organizing and related experience will begiven consideration, as will steward and rank-and-fileexperience. RESPONSIBILITIES: Will work with the Organizingstaff to implement the organizing plan of the Local Union.Identify and recruit worker leaders who want to organize to jointhe union; direct contact with unorganized workers; developmentof leadership and structure of organizing campaigns, as well asconduct organizing drives and representation elections. Mobilizeunion members to support new organizing. This is not a 9 to 5job, and includes long and varied hours, with early morning,evening and weekend work, as necessary. May require travel andperiods of overnights. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Responsible for probing ofpotential organizing targets. You will conduct worksite meetingsand house visits with workers; facilitate worksite meetings withworkers; develop weekly and monthly plans based on overallcampaign goals; identify worker issues; assess workers; mobilizeworkers for public actions, track worker data; identify andrecruit worker leaders. SKILLS, APTITUDE, AND COMMITMENT: Ability to work effectively as part of a team. High level ability to communicate orally and in writing. Ability to create a message that resonates with workers. Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision. Must be well-organized and self- motivated. Ability to exercise good judgment and discern priorities. Ability to make effective use of resources available to theunion. Dedication to improving the position of working people andstrengthening the role of organized labor in society through workactions, community relations, and legislative and politicalactivity. Ability to work effectively with members and staff fromdiverse groups and identities. REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid California driver's license; must pass a DMV check and have a good drivingrecord; must have auto insurance that covers business driving(minimum of $100,000 per person/$300,000 per incident bodilyinjury liability/$50,000 property coverage); and must possess anautomobile for business use. SALARY AND BENEFITS: The current salary range is$78,336.45 - $128,664.51 on qualifications and experience. Thereis a competitive and comprehensive benefits package.
